| Willow was born on the 15th October 1998 - in the middle
of the night, of course! As the only yellow in a litter of blacks |
| she stood out right from the start, looking a lot
bigger than her sisters (yes, they were |

|
| all bitches), although we think this was just an optical
illusion! She certainly acted as if |
| she were the biggest, though, pushing the others
out of the way to get to the milk-bar! |
| She was a very sturdy puppy, and I think we
decided we were going to keep her at |
| quite an early stage. |
| It soon became obvious that Willow was going to be a bit of a
show-off. She always |
| had to get into everybody else's act! Just the
thing for a show-dog, of course, which |
 |
was just what we wanted. As she got a little |
| older, we began to take her to show-training |
| classes to get the feel of the thing and to meet
lots of other dogs and people. She had |
| a wonderful time getting on with everyone, and
seemed to take naturally to showing, |
| rather as her mother (Bonnie) had done before
her. |
| When she turned six months of age, and became eligible
to enter shows, we took her to |
| the Midland Counties Labrador Retriever Club's
Championship Show in Nottingham |
| for her very first outing in the show-ring. To our delight, at the age of just six months |
| and two days, she gained a third place in the
Minor Puppy Bitch class out of an entry of |
| forty puppies. This result qualified her to be
entered at Crufts in 2000. Her appearance |
| at Crufts did not result in a placing, but she
did rise to the occasion and showed |
| beautifully. She continues to do well at shows,
winning a number of first place and |
| Best of Breed awards. |
| Willow is a very laid-back girl and has an
excellent temperament. Following an unsuccessful mating last year, we
mated willow again in August 2002 and she presented us with a litter of
beautiful yellow puppies on October 18th. |
